Liza
Bridal / Restyling
Liza contacted me with an idea. She had a short strapless sheath dress covered in paillettes. She knew she wanted to add an illusion neckline with a shoulder detail but wasn’t sure exactly what. After a few rounds of photo sharing and sketches that weren’t quite right, she showed me photos with Balmain inspired studded shoulders—strong and edgy. The lightbulb moment!
After hemming the dress a couple inches, I had a small pile of the sequins to play with. I designed a separate contoured shoulder piece on the mannequin out of paper and then with the tulle fabric. With the paper model, I mapped out the direction the sequins needed to face and each individual position. I transferred that blueprint to the tulle epaulettes and hand sewed each sequin in place. The shoulder detail was then positioned onto the tulle illusion and sewn into place. Dress transformed!
